Discussion Topics
How wonderful it would be if everything in life happened according to our wishes. But in reality, it is not under our control. Even in favorable environments, we still do not know how to make good decisions. Even if we make the right choices, and the conditions are favorable, if we do not act on our decisions, it is our fault, not the fault of our environment. We are the ones who choose not to be diligent. Think about the above in terms of the Ten Precepts... Vegetarianism for example... Share how difficult it is to ACT upon good decisions...Do you think this is why Master always asks us to be "DILIGENT"...that is put into ACTION something which is the RIGHT thing to do?
Think back to a time in your life when you were Jealous of someone.... And this person's INTENTIONS were to make you Jealous...(for instance, in a relationship). Put yourself back in that time again: (Let's say it was a "LOVE TRIANGLE" of three persons. Now, according to Master's explanation, who do you think caused the suffering that you had to endure? What does Master say the roles of the other two persons in this LOVE TRIANGLE were to you? Is this a different mindset that you had at the time?
Stinginess is the unwillingness to give. As we seek wealth and enjoyment, we strive to posses many things. As we train ourselves to be GRATEFUL for every moment in life, does STINGINESS in turn dissipate? Share a story about a stingy person that you may know now (or have known). Would you guess that their lives were lived in Gratitude or in perpetual desire? Would you agree that living a life of Gratitude, Love and Respect will naturally diminish the afflictions we cause in our own minds everyday?
