Crucial to our becoming a Certified Volunteer in Tzu Chi is that we must NOT discount Good or Bad Karmic Effects. That is, we must never believe that doing Good does not bring blessings nor that doing Evil does not bring Retributions. This idea transcends the world's major religions and spiritual understandings. If we do not have Faith in this understanding, we should not desire to be a Certified Volunteer. Instead, we should develop this Faith through reading Master's teachings, watching Da Ai TV, following the precepts and taking action in the Four Missions. If one does NOT have this Faith...what are the potential consequences that you can think of? Why do you think this is so important to Master for us to understand and to comply?
"I only trust my self": This is a common way of looking at life in America. On the opposite spectrum, this is Master's perspective as put into the lyrics of this famous Tzu Chi Song:"...There is no one in the world that I don’t love.There is no one in the world that I don’t trust.There is no one in the world that I can’t forgive.All the sorrow, blame, and worry—just let go...." As you look at your own progress on the Tzu Chi Path...share what has made you advance along this line of Trust. Or, as you have advanced along this Line of Trust...do you miss anything of your old ways? That is, does life seem more risky now? Have you given up anything as you have increased your trust in others?
Master discusses a goal in Tzu Chi: "We need to expand our view from just educating Taiwan to something Greater" What does Master mean by "educating" and, how are you and I taking part in effecting this?
